Don't ask me why, but this car always makes me think of Colorado, and vice versa.

Given the 300+ days of sun, rather mild climate (for a state that sees some semblance of winter)...you know what the answer always is. Miata!
In your F150/Subaru exclusion list, you forgot to add Jeep. Wrangler...top off for the aforementioned sunny days, fun off road.

"....420 reference"
I was just there two weeks ago, and really didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Sure, there were more Subarus than back home, but nothing really stood out as being unique to Colorado. Hell, I even followed a 996 turbo with a roofbox eastbound from Frisco on I70 for a little bit.
I would think anything with AWD, and really good floor mats would be great.
Do you ski/snowboard? Cycle?

for Boulder & thereabouts the price of admission is a decent Outback, Prius, or any A3/A4
if you're Cherry Creek and toodlin' to & fro for a tee then yer a Rover Sport/Evoque or an E-class/S-class
up in them thar foothills and further back range then def an FJ-60/62 or a primer'd XJ Cherokee
